Fresh Paint in our Boutique Studio!

It’s amazing what a coat of fresh paint can do. When we first moved into the studio we were subletting, so we could only paint our section of the space. The remaining space was lavender—not exactly on brand.

Here’s what we updated…

In our section of the space, we went with Greek Villa for the walls and Anew Gray for the trim—both by Sherwin Williams. Since we have samples all over the studio, I wanted to keep the palette pretty neutral. After I purchased the property, painting the rest of the studio was one of the first priorities. The back room has the same colors for the walls and trim. The back door and bathroom door were painted black—Black Magic, also by Sherwin Williams.

Before

After

The bathroom door had this awful homasote board on the back of it. It has been patched up a bunch of times and had so many coats of paint. But the front of the bathroom door had 5 panels—classic and so expensive to purchase new. I wanted to keep that door, but get the board off of the back. However, we had no idea what was under it. There was only one way to find out!

The bathroom door after we pulled off the homasote!

We were pleasantly surprised to find that the door (pictured to the left) was in virtually perfect condition under the homasote. In fact, it was in better shape than the side of the door that has been exposed all these years!

The wall between the front and back room was the perfect opportunity for an accent wall. I chose Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore. It’s a dark navy blue, that’s almost black. However, this color didn’t seem like enough to make this wall feel special. I decided to upgrade the trim as well and have this painted in the exact same color, but in gloss. The vent pipe from a drain was also painted Hale Navy so it visually disappeared into the wall. We also had our electrician switch out the receptacles to black so that they wouldn’t call too much visual attention.

Especially after this project, I am still convinced that fresh paint is one of the cost effective and impactful ways to change a space. If you’re looking to change up your own space, take a look at our services to see how we can help!
